Regulations

Our clients need to be sure that they are meeting, and ideally exceeding, the requirements of current legislation and guidelines relating to the operation of data centres.

The Carbon Reduction Energy Efficiency Scheme is the UK’s first mandatory carbon trading scheme. It affects over 5,000 large private and public sector organisations including supermarkets, banks and local authorities. The scheme provides a financial incentive to reduce energy use.

One of the ways that organisations can make quick wins on reducing their energy consumption is by improving airflow management through aisle containment strategies in the computer room.

Efficient airflow management is one of the recommendations of the EU’s Code of Conduct on Data Centres Energy Efficiency now in force. In order to win and maintain UK and EU government contracts, suppliers must demonstrate that they conform to standards either as a ‘Participant’, i.e. data centre owners and operators; or as an ‘Endorser’, which includes supply chain and service providers. Dataracks was the first racking supplier to sign up to the code.

cocendorser_60eCool engineers are of Certified Data Centre Design status, and our solutions always take in to account EU Code of Conduct Best Practice Advice. By helping our customers to design and install efficient airflow management systems, we help them to achieve Participant status.

Carbon Trust Scheme

Dataracks has registered as a Carbon Trust Supplier which means that companies can use an interest free loan to install eCool’s containment systems in their computer room or data centre, and then pay off the loan using the savings it makes in energy bills.

Data Centre Special Report

Data Centre Managers need up to date knowledge of effective cooling techniques. Data integrity and energy conservation depend on it.

Aisle containment is widely regarded as a key tool in air flow management for efficient cooling. But what approaches are the most effective in achieving effective cold aisle containment?

Dataracks teamed up with GEA Denco to run a trial to find out.
